  • Addicted to Retail

January 28, 2008 By Andres Izquieta 0 Comments

As we all know, we are in a recession or heading into a recession. Call it what you want to call it. From my perspective, I think we've been in somewhat of a recession since Fall 2007.

Dee, Anand and I were talking today about several issues of our current economy and just thought, what if we didn't go to war in Iraq?

Last night on 60 minutes, there was an interview with the FBI agent that interviewed Saddam Hussein for 7 months while he was in captivity before his death. The issue of weapons of mass destruction came up and as many of us expected, there was none really left when the US went to war with Iraq.

So then we wanted to know what the cost of the war was to date, and typed in to google, "money spent on Iraq war" and low and behold we came across a website called www.costofwar.com that redirects itself to a site www.nationalpriorities.org, the link is here

So how much are we in the hole for Iraq? As of 8:26pm PST on 1/28/08 we are $489,689,477,954. Yes, that's billions.

According to the US Census Bureau, our population today is 303,327,366.

With the talks of a stimulus package being created by the government to increase consumer spending, there are reports of a few hundred dollars being given to individuals, anywhere from $300-600. I personally think it's not going to really help, people seem scared at the economy right now and I figure most people are going to save their money, at least that's what most people I'm speaking to are doing, everywhere from higher economic levels to mid to low.

If we didn't go to war in Iraq, we could hypothetically split up that $ to every US American down to $1614.39 per person, if you are a family of 5 that adds up to a lot of money. Now obviously, no one is naive to think that would ever happen, but it's just a thought.

With the elections coming this year, we all need to get out there and voice our opinion. We definitely need a change.

Coming to America is one of my favorite films of all times, they also predicted the Giants going to the big game.

Prince Akeem called this one back in the 80s.

Michael Jackson is arguably the best music artist of all time, and next month he is releasing the 25th Anniversary album of Thriller, with some updated remixes with today's biggest stars.

    Check out the trailer below.

The artists on the album include Akon, will.i.am, Kanye West, and Fergie.

  • P-Per Phone

January 25, 2008 By Andres Izquieta 0 Comments

Check out this new phone developed by the Chocolate Agency.

The phone is said to be tech and eco friendly. There are 4 layers to the phone, a printed circuit board, extruded polycarbonate, recycled titanium, and a wrap around flexible haptic LED touchscreen.

It has a 7mm wafer thin form factor, 3 megapixel camera, and a 2 minute recharge time.

    Damn...sounds hot.

Could be the first real competitor to the i-phone.

  • U2 3D

January 24, 2008 By Andres Izquieta 0 Comments

Went to check out the U2 3D film last night, what an amazing show.

Some of my friends that had been to Sundance that went to see the film absolutely loved it. I've been a huge U2 fan for awhile and couldn't wait for the movie to be released.

So last night, another cold rainy night in L.A. (it was bad last night) I went to check out the film with J Dubb and Sameer. They liked U2, but weren't really fans...until they saw the film.

The movie was primarily filmed in 7 locations, but felt like it was primarily shot in Buenos Aires on the South American leg of their Vertigo Tour last year. The other 6 locations were in South America. The film also used the highest amount of 3d cameras ever used in a 3d movie, quite a show, and the results were there.

At the end of the film, after we took off our funny looking iMax 3d glasses, the crowd felt like they were all there with them. The great thing about U2, is that their show is not just a show, but an experience. Their music tells a story and takes you through an experience, and their show just takes it to another level.

I highly recommend for any one that is into U2 or live shows to go see it, or just any music fan.

J Dubb and Sameer both thought it was the best concert they had ever been to, and this was just a film. Their live show is amazing.

Check out the film, U2 3D.

  • THH

Teddy Hyde Homme was spotted at Five Four offices last week.

Prior to his trip to Sundance, to join the countless LA and NY party animals that made it out there (oh ya, there is also a film festival, most people think it's a party circuit, sorry Mr. Redford) Mr. Hyde came by the office to get some clothes.

Before he took his shot, he flipped quickly so that he could look extra cool w/his Ray Bans...

Thanks for stopping by Teddy, we know it was a treach from the Hills of Beverly.

    P.S. Nice tan.
